WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PSYCHOTHERAPY & COUNSELLING?

Psychotherapy and Counselling are closely related — the main difference comes down to depth and focus. I integrate both ways of working, dependent on what is suitable for each unique individual.

Counselling often supports people through specific challenges or life transitions, like relationship issues, stress, or grief. It can often be shorter-term and focused.

Psychotherapy tends to be a deeper process — exploring long-standing patterns, developmental experiences, relational dynamics and the unconscious processes at roots of emotional and psychological struggles. It’s usually a longer-term process, and can involve the integration of things such as attachment-based wounds and past trauma.
